Hui, son of Tangiharuru and his first wife Takuate. 

His descendants, Ngati Hui upheld ahi ka around Karamuramu. In the mid to latter nineteenth century, three houses were built – Ruatapu, Tuwhare and Tangiharuru. It is thought that Tuwhare was originally built prior to 1860 (Wilson 1961:11). From these places, they shifted to Te Rautawhiri, which is at the junction of the Whirinaki and Rangitaiki.
